One of the most attractive hair styles that you can wear with medium length hair, are hairstyles that have flippy ends. Flippy ends are considered by most to be, very feminine, fun, creative and vintage, all at the same time. In addition, creating hair styles with flippy ends is not very hard. It can seem very challenging to create these hairstyles, but all it really takes is a little bit of practice.
When you’re creating styles with flippy ends, you will find that the first thing you must do is straighten your hair, if your hair is not already straight or a little wavy. If your hair is really curly, you can wear styles with flippy ends as well, but it’s not as common to wear the flippy ends style, but it will be considered very unique and creative should you choose to do this.
Flippy ends hairstyles became very popular in the 70′s. You did find some neat and tidy styles with flippy ends throughout the 30′s, but the ends were not only flipped, but they were also very tightly rolled.
In the 70′s, you saw a definite flip, as opposed to an upside down roll or curl. Women of all different hair lengths wore hairstyles with flippy ends. They were the height of fashion and fun. This is what can give flippy ends, as a style, a very vintage sort of appeal.
When you are creating hair styles with flippy ends, you will find that it’s best to create your modern styles, in the same ways that ladies created flippy hair looks in the 70′s. You will need to use curlers that you sleep in, curlers that you wear under a hot dryer, or a heated curling iron to create flippy hair looks.
Always remember that if you decide to use heat to create your hair style, that you should also use a heat protectant spray. Consistent use of heat can damage the hair, and cause breakage if you don’t use protection.
There are plenty of soft rollers you can also buy for sleeping, and creating flippy hair looks. When you sleep in curlers, you might want to make the hair slightly damp with a setting lotion, or moisturizing lotion to help the curl to hold throughout the day. In order to maintain a flippy style you have to either sleep in curlers every night, or style with heat every day. If you do what’s called a wet set, you can set your hair after washing, conditioning and applying setting lotion.
You must then roll the curlers upside down, and dry under a hot dryer. Once it’s dry, remove the curlers and comb, or finger comb your hair. You can usually sleep on this style for a few days, without restyling.

My girl had this short, curled-under-bob style when I first met her. She would spend 10-15 minutes each morning to get it to curl like that. Then, one morning after her shower, we didn’t have time for her to do this and her hair naturally flipped outward on the ends. And it looked so damn cute I insisted she try wearing it like this all the time, and growing it a little longer. She now looks absolutely adorable all the time and the old style made her look like she was wearing a hair-helmet. Took 10 years off her looks, too. Like I wrote to her one day; Flippy is cuter, sexier, smarter…it’s what all hair styles aspire to be. Hers is very similar to the picture above. It’s so cute I can hardly stand it!
